Challenge
In the early morning hours of Thursday, January 14, 1999, a fire swept through the Cardinal Health (formerly known as Allegiance Healthcare Corporation) plant in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. With its manufacturing plant completely destroyed, Cardinal needed to resume production at another location in the shortest amount of time.
Solution
The key management team of Cardinal met at 5:30 a.m. on January 14 after the fire had been contained and all the workers safely evacuated. TeamNAFTA.com was called just after 8 a.m. and Michael G. White, CCIM faxed a list of all the buildings available in the Ciudad Juarez market to the Cardinal Health management team. Mike then traveled to Juarez and met with the Cardinal managers at 10 a.m., and a site tour was underway by 1 p.m. On Monday, January 18, two sites were selected and lease terms were finalized. On Friday, January 29, Cardinal was able to move into their new facility and begin production.
End Result
The market knowledge of TeamNAFTA.com kept Cardinal’s down time to its lowest possible level. Being able to immediately provide a comprehensive list of available properties for the entire Ciudad Juarez market saved Cardinal days of lost production time.
