Professional Experience

Mike White graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1983 with a B.S. in Engineering.  Commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Air Defense Artillery, he arrived at Fort Bliss, Texas (El Paso) for training and duty with the 11th ADA Brigade.  After two years, he transferred into Military Intelligence and served as a Soviet Air Threat Analysis in the Directorate of Combat Developments.  He gained wide acclaim in the Intelligence community for his numerous briefings, technical writings and support to testing of new missile systems. He returned to the Pentagon several times over the next five years as an Army Reserve Officer in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal from the United States Army following Desert Storm.

In 1988, Mr. White was hired by the legendary Sergei Sikorsky of the Sikorsky Aircraft Company in Stratford, Connecticut as an advanced design analytical engineer.  After a year away, he returned to be part of the City that so intrigued him throughout his Leadership El Paso Class 10 experience.  In 1990, he formed Management Works, a defense consulting and marketing firm which he heads. 

In March 1992, Mr. White ran unsuccessfully in the Republican Party primary for the United States Congress, 16th District of Texas.  By December 1992, he co-founded MSTC, the Maquila – Sandia Technology Consortium, a collaboration of regional manufacturing corporations sharing technology with the Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories.  He organized numerous efforts in support of the North American Free Trade Agreement in 1993, and is recognized as an expert at expanding commercial trade ties and technology transfer to Mexico.

Mr. White serves as Senior Partner of TeamNAFTA.com, a commercial real estate firm he founded, and has focused on industrial development in Mexico for the past eight years.  Mr. White is responsible for a unique, cross-border real estate services company.  A CCIM trained professional, Mr. White has personally directed the expansion requirements of Johnson & Johnson, Federal Express, Lear Corporation, Philips Electronics, Caterpillar and numerous other Fortune 1,000 corporations across northern Mexican cities.  His firm sponsors periodic seminars titled “Manufacturing in Mexico”, which expose MexicoSiteSelection.com corporate clients to the total costs of doing business in modern Mexico.

Mr. White currently serves on the Alumni Board of Directors of the Texas Lyceum; Member of the Leadership El Paso Alumni Association; Leadership Council of the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce; Board Member of the El Paso/Juarez World Trade Center Association; and Secretary of the Coronado Country Club Board of Directors.

In 1996, then-Texas Governor George W. Bush appointed Mike White to Chairman of the Texas Military Facilities Commission, the youngest state appointee to the Chair level, which manages 189 statewide armories and related industrial facilities.
